Business travel makes up a large part of the sector – worth $1.6trn annually. English has become the dominant working language of business globally – 90% of airlines and shipping lines use English as their language of choice and all major hotel groups demand front office and senior staff be bi-lingual, with English usually forming one of the elective languages.

It is one of the few industries where your overall communication skills will be critical, handling many different situations that require politeness, subtlety and strong communication skills – often having to revert to speaking in English.
